$9,995.00Price

French Art Deco sideboard cabinet and bookcase made of exotic ribbon striped Cuban mahogany wood. Neoclassical design features architectural elements with Directoire style accents. The sideboard has open display shelves on either side and a center door fitted with interior cabinet space. The door is designed with an elegant center ring pull surrounded by bronze rods and mounts, creating a perfect diamond shape. The cabinet has tapered legs with classical column mounts and pediment accents in gilt bronze. Pierre Lardin was a specialist in fine hand decorated mirror work and furniture as well as wallpaper prints, and jewelry. Lardin, along with his contemporaries Arbus, Adnet, Poillerat, and Lelue, were producing privately commissioned handcrafted pieces during the 1940's which resulted in a modern Neoclassicism. During the 1940's the styles varied and moved away from the geometric and cubist inspired designs of the great French masters like Ruhlmann, and tended to have more decorative qualities borrowed from Empire, Directoire, and neoclassical designs. Some of Lardin's commissioned work can be seen at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. This item is located in NYC area.
