19th Century Antique Zanzibar Chest in Teak Wood and Brass Studs

Rare 19th century handcrafted Zanzibar chest with brass metal overlay and brass mounts. The antique trunk is comprised of solid carved teak and hardwood and features ornamental hinged lid. The interior is fitted with a candle box on the upper right side. The chest is adorned with pierced brass metal sheets and brass studs throughout, creating a series of geometric and Moorish inspired patterns. Exquisitely detailed with magnificent craftsmanship and fitted with brass carrying handles. Originally used for travels and often for the exports of good. Makes a great coffee table, side table, or accent piece.
